Alpacas

No llama drama at Brindlewood Farm. We have alpacas! There are two types of Alpacas, Huacaya (pronounced wah-KI'-ya) and Suri (pronounced Surrey). Ours are Huacaya. Alpacas are gentle and easy to handle. They don't have incisors, horns, hard hooves, or claws. Clean-up is easy since alpacas deposit droppings in only a few places and their poo can go directly into the garden. It is an amazing fertilizer. Alpacas produce one of the world's finest and most luxurious natural fibers.  Soft as cashmere and warmer, lighter, and stronger than wool, it comes in more colors than any other fiber-producing animal (approximately 22 primary colors with many variations and blends). This cashmere-like fleece is prized the world over.
